Drying Time |
The conditioner will be touch dry in minutes and the stain can be applied after two hours - or sooner in warm conditions. Please note: this is an approximate drying time. There could be a number of factors that may affect this. |
Coverage |
Approx. coverage of 10-12m² per litre, for one liberal coat. |
This water based formula is intended for use before applying Littlefair’s Floor Stain. It will penetrate bare pine and porous hardwoods, partially sealing the grain allowing the stain to colour the wood more evenly. It will create a clearer, lighter, more ‘modern’ look if desired, rather than a ‘rustic, aged’ effect.

Please note that the Pre-Conditioner is best used with our traditional colours - we would not recommend using it with African Ebony, Seawashed White, Driftwood Grey or Driftwood Brown.
Preparation
Careful and thorough preparation will result in a far superior final result.
Prepare a test piece or use an inconspicuous area of your floor to judge the effect of using the conditioner before the dye, compared to applying the dye without conditioning the wood first.
Application
A single, liberal coat should be enough. It can be applied with a good quality brush, applicator pad, roller or spray. Aim to apply the conditioner as quickly and evenly as possible to one or two boards at a time, working along their entire length. If you are working on a larger floor, consider having a second person apply the conditioner with you. They could start the next board when you are approximately halfway. This should help you maintain a ‘wet edge’ and avoid overlapping.
