Prepare Your Home for the Festive Period!
After such a turbulent 2020, I think we've all embraced a bit of festive cheer and preparations for Christmas have well and truly begun!
Due to Covid-19, it's likely to be a different kind of Christmas and many of us will be having smaller and quieter get togethers than usual. Without the usual jam packed social calendar, perfecting your home environment for the big day carries more importance than ever. Christmas Day is about spending time with those you love so what better reason to spruce up your home ahead of the festive period!
Perfect your dining table
The most important bit - Christmas dinner! Your dining table will most likely be centre stage for it. Whether you’re choosing to arrange a sit down meal, or a more low-key and casual gathering with a spread of food - you’re going to want your dining table to look its best! After a hard slog of use all year, you can ensure your table looks brand new with one of Littlefair’s Wood Dyes. Our Wood Dyes are water based, meaning they’re easy to apply, regardless of your level of DIY expertise!
Why not choose either Medium Oak (above) or Dark Walnut – these rich colours will look perfect against bold Christmas decorations. Finish it off with one of our Wax Polishes or Water Based Varnishes to protect your new colour.
Don’t forget an eye-catching centrepiece for your table. There are so many creative ways you can set your home apart from the rest. If you’re feeling crafty you could even make your own centrepiece using complementary colours from our Wood Dye range.

Get crafty
Do you have the perfect style of decorations for your home in mind, but you can’t find them anywhere in the shops? It’s time to get crafty! Checking out Pinterest can help to get your creative juices flowing. You could create tree decorations, table centrepieces or ornaments. If you’ve got a particular colour scheme in mind you may be able to incorporate one or two of the wood dyes from our Pastel Range - perhaps create a Sensual Soft White Christmas!
Trim the tree
The main event for any Christmas decorations is a beautifully trimmed Christmas tree. Whether your heart wants a real tree or you’ve got your eyes on an artificial one, it's all about the decorations. First of all choose a colour scheme - you could go traditional with reds and greens, or why not go modern with teals and silver. Next ensure you add some twinkling lights to catch your guests' eyes. Finally, finish it off with a sparkling star or an angel atop your tree.
A new lease of life for your floors
Do you have beautiful wooden floors throughout your home? Why not do as @ourcheshirehousebuild has done above and give them a new lease of life with one of our Water Based Floor Dyes! If your hallway is adorned with wooden floors it’s the perfect way to make a good first impression. Finish off with one of Littelfair’s Floor Fast Varnishes to protect your new floor colour.
What better base for your Christmas tree to stand proud and for all the wonderful presents scattered underneath – it will be picture perfect! Below is an example of a floor finished with our Seawashed White.
From everybody at Littlefair's, we wish you a happy Christmas and all the best for 2021.
