What made you decide to stock Littlefair’s wood finishing products?
For us, the biggest deciding factor was that Littlefair’s is a local company. The founder, Lesley, has been a customer of ours for a long time, so we wanted to return the favour.
How have your customers responded to Littlefair’s products and are there any ones that are especially popular?
We have found all the products sell equally well for us! Our customers especially love the Extra Strong Varnish in all three finishes – Matt, Satin and Gloss. Like us, our customers love to support a local brand.
What led to your decision to expand your Littlefair’s product range and how do you think this expansion will benefit your customers?
The support and communication of the Littlefair’s team gives us extra confidence when supplying the products, as well as product reliability. It made us feel at ease when deciding to expand our offering. This move will add another option to our ever-growing range of Littlefair’s products, giving customers more choice - something that is our bread and butter as a company.
Which new products will you be stocking?
We’re adding Black Black Wood Stain, Titan Topcoat and a range of Floor Finishing products too!
What advice would you give to customers looking for the right wood finishing products?
If you’re not sure which product is right for you, ask! We have a close working relationship with the Littlefair’s team. This, coupled with our staff’s experience, means we can generally provide the best solution.
Are there any common mistakes people make when choosing or applying wood finishes?
We’ve found it is usually down to colour selection at the beginning of a customer project. To resolve this, all our Littlefair’s wood stains have colour samples, which helps to eliminate this problem.

You can visit us at Wood Street, Darwen in Lancashire. We’re overlooking the main road across from the old job centre, which is now Duckworth’s Estate Agents.
Is there anything else you'd like people to know about James Gibson Ltd?
We are a family-owned, local independent business. Service to our local community and industry is our key priority. We stock, in simple terms, everything! This includes hand and power tools and accessories, workwear and PPE, plumbing and electrical equipment, paint and decorating sundries, fixings, fasteners, gas, in-house print and embroidery, homewares and much, much more!
